2012: Looking Back

Hey everyone. No comic today. Would like to take this last day of 2012 to say something and be thankful about some stuff. This is this going to be a lengthy read but skip to the end if you want. Hope you don't mind. And I am writing this in my underwear. Hope you don't mind that as well.

Someone once told me that you have eyes in front of your head because you have to always look forward. That someone is a random character from a Doraemon comic.

Since then, I try my best to be that kind of person. Always looking forward. But today I would like to break that rule and take a look back for a second.

I remember at the beginning of the year, the superstitious lot told me that 2012 will be a bad year as it is the year of the water Dragon in the Chinese zodiac calendar and things will be a rough for everyone. I wouldn't say that they are wrong, I admit there are ups and downs but however, upon looking back, I would think that overall the year 2012 has been very kind to me.

The first half of the year was pretty uneventful. It's either nothing much happened or I was too drunk to remember but all I know it was vague but still good. Everything was normal.

Little did I know by the second half of the year, I won my first award at a national level.

Then things got crazy.

Here are a few highlights.

Soon after, I got interviewed on the newspaper again and was on air with Red FM and Bernama Radio.

The interview with Red FM was fun. I was awful and stiff on Bernama Radio. Don't ask why.

They went with the ugliest picture of me that they could find from the photoshoot.
I was even invited to do a web chat with all my readers on Gua.com.my on a sofa which they usually reserve for celebrities and artistes. Till now, I am far from both.

It was the best one hour with my readers. Ever.
Then I was also invited to talk at the Nuffnang Blogopolis alongside a very famous blogger, Maria Elena. It was the first blogger conference ever held in Malaysia and being a part of it was truly an honour.

Isn't Maria lovely in this picture?

After proving my ability to spew nonsense when given a microphone and placed on stage, I managed to give more talks here and there all thanks to the Stickman's gang, especially to an ostrich riding bro named Shah. That's his site. He loves his suits.

After that, I took part in a brutal 24 hour comic marathon which tested my mettle and undeniably humbled me at the 12th hour though I managed to rise up to the challenge and complete it with 45 minutes to spare. For the first time in my life, I managed to complete a fully colored 24 paged comic within 24 hours. Special thanks to Sarah who brought me into this new light in the comic drawing scene as it is an experience never to be forgotten. I am glad I have came to know her and we are now friends.
Special thanks to those who came by to give me support and food so I would not die at my table.
After that, I took part in a comic contest for the first time in my life which I took home second place. I've never joined any comic contest before and this achievement was rather overwhelming for me.

At the final stretch of the year, after realising that we survived the 'end of the world' nonsense, me and a few other comic blogger friends of mine managed to come together and put out our calendar again for the second time running despite all our busy schedule.

BOOK YOURS TODAY WHILE STOCKS LAST!
Those are the few major highlights that I could remember from my humble comic blogging career this year in 2012 and all of these are nothing but mud and dust if it weren't for your support all these past two years. Thank you all, the readers, for always being patient with my potty humour, late postings and lame jokes (if any). Thanks for all your responses, comments and feedbacks (though I tend to not reply sometimes, not because I am a dick but because I wish I have more than 24 hours in a day); they have always been my fuel and energy to keep going and keep pushing forward to see how far can I bring the bros go.

Thanks to my family and friends for always being supportive and giving me advice and insights about my comics. Special thanks to the bros for always being there for me although I know sometimes they are absent minded but they have been the source of my inspiration all these while and I thank you bros for keeping up the awesome and always staying crazy for your readers.

That said, eyes are at the front for looking forward. Today is the last day of 2012. Tomorrow will be the first day of 2013 and today I still like to state the damn obvious.

Will I be able to achieve more if not the same amount in the new year? What is in store for the bros in 2013?
I have no freaking clue and neither do the bros. It is without a doubt that all our eyes are in the front and we are looking forward to it.

Till then, to the all my lovely readers, family, friends, and bros...

Population: Everyone
Happy New Year and may 2013 bring more awesome surprises to you!

Have a great week ahead!

P.S. Some people asked me what is my New Year's resolution. Simple. I just want more time to play my video games.

Handbags and Men

Happy Thursdays everyone! How was your Christmas holidays? Not enough? Don't worry New Year holidays are coming up next. All the more reason to get jiggy on.

I have no idea what that means.

So about a month ago, the issue of men and handbags came up for a bit over the social media. The guys from Bolehland mentioned about it in one of their strips before so it reminded me of an incident where the bros also encountered a somewhat similar situation hence today's strip.

I had this story in the script bank for quite a long while back and only now I finally come around to draw about it.

Here is the bro's take on handbags and men.

No offence to anyone who thinks otherwise but the bros seriously think men shouldn't be carrying their women's handbags. I personally find it degrading and emasculating to the man. Ladies, you shouldn't go out of your way just to have your men carry your handbags for you. I know some of you might think it's sweet and it shows how much the guy loves and respects you for doing such a thing for you which you think it's nice. I don't think it's right. I believe if a guy gets forced to carry handbags even for a bit, he dies a little inside as on the outside he becomes less macho with the leather product slung over his crestfallen shoulders. If girls are obsessed about handbags they should really carry it themselves.

Besides, remember what the government says about guys carrying handbags? I'm sure you do because it was big news and we had the whole world laughing at us.

Despite Jon getting a knock on the head, the couple went like this after that.
I pity the guy.
Just to be clear; shopping bags are okay just not the particular one which contain your purse, keys, chapstick, knicknacks, pepper spray and a brick (maybe). You should know which bag I am referring to by now. No, the brick inside doesn't make your bag any more manly for a guy to hold.

I might receive a lot of flak from the female readers after this.

Maybe that is a good thing. At least the women will pay attention to me for five minutes for once today.

Anyway before signing off, I have an announcement to make. As you know, or if you have been following me on Facebook and/or Twitter, me and a few other artists have gotten together once again to come out with yet another calendar for the second year running! Yes! It is back by popular demand and it is more awesome than the last! Bookings are now officially open to everyone!

Have a great weekend ahead!

Merry Christmas 2012!

Hey guys!

Looks like everyone is still here and the end of the world did not even come knocking on our doors. Some of you might be indifferent, some of you might feel relieved and/or disappointed. But fret not. Christmas is coming!

That's right! Therefore I would like to announce that there will be no comic today but instead I would like to take this early opportunity to wish everyone, friends, family and all readers a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays! So here is yet another Christmas greeting from the bros in this special "not-end-of-the-world" year of 2012!

Spread the holiday cheer with my usual festive wallpaper or card or whatever you wanna call it. Download and/or share if you like it!

Thanks everyone for always showing your love and support for this comic series till today! Will do a special post before the new year comes!

May all the awesomeness rain upon you like pure white snow except that they are warm and fluffy instead of being cold and wet! I wonder if do such snow really exist.

Bro Long Story: Kidnapped, part 8

Hey everybody! How's your Saturday?

"It's already Sunday, bro."

How times are fun when you are having flies. Sorry for being late for a day in posting my comic as I am currently not in my home base thus posting from elsewhere can be a challenge as my internet is limited and I am too cheapskate to go to Starbucks for internet.

Anyway, we continue from where we left off in the Kidnapped Series! Part 8 here we go!

Daryl finally gets Jamus's help while the kidnappers have gone off to the bros' house to kidnap the other bros.

READ PART 1, PART 2, PART 3, PART 4, PART 5, PART 6, PART 7

DUNN DUNN DUNN
What will happen next? Stay tuned!

CONTINUED IN PART 9

Yes. There is another part. Even though this series have touched 24 pages. I am too lazy to explain why as it is already 12am as I am writing this post. But more than 24 pages into this series is a good thing right?

Have a great Sunday ahead!

End Of The World: What Will You Do?

Hey happy Thursdays everyone! Well, it wouldn't be so happy if the world is going to end tomorrow.

Supposingly it happens.

When the disaster movie '2012' came out many years ago, many people were convinced that the world was going to end on the date 21/12/12. Today, with less than 24 hours to go, no one seems to give a shit anymore. We wake up and coninue to do our usual shit until the next doomsday date comes about. It's still strange to see that some people are convinced with the doomsday till today. I would hate it so much if they get to be right but I highly doubt they will get that chance. But let's just say we have scientific evidence and there is a meteor the size of Malaysia or a Godzilla in a spacesuit barreling towards our planet at this moment and will impact our planet within 24 hours, what would you do before that disaster occurs?

Here is what the bros will most likely do.
This is how much I believe it is not going to happen.
Come to think of it, maybe the doomsday is also the most annoying day on the planet. Because that is when everyone collectively will state the stupid obvious and once again prove humanity can be a predictable sad sack of shit. Remember 12/12/12?

They should all probably collectively collide with each other and die.

BUT let's just say I am wrong and I am actually the real sad sack of shit and THERE IS a Malaysia sized Godzilla in a spacesuit heading towards our planet right now, what would I really REALLY do?

This.

Football fans will get the joke.
Yep. Don't stop believing.

Of course that Alex Ferguson joke isn't original. I got it from the internet somewhere.

Have a great weekend ahead.

I hope everyone have better things to tweet about tomorrow.

Bro Long Story: Kidnapped, part 7

Hey happy Monday guys!

I am a liar. There is no such thing as a happy Monday unless you got laid last weekend, won the lottery and/or your enemy died.

Anyway, sorry that there was no update on Saturday and it got pushed to today. I was out trying to give back to the community but you didn't have to know that because by me just saying that makes me sound like a pretentious little shit. Come to think of it, pushing Saturday's usual scheduled posting to today could be a good chance to those who doesn't know about the existence of this series on Saturday postings because apparently they have better lives than me and are never at home on the weekends because they are exciting.

So here is the delayed continuation of the Kidnapped series. Daryl tries to call one of the bros for help.

Read PART 1, PART 2, PART 3, PART 4, PART 5, PART 6

Sorry if this part is not as exciting as the one before as during this point of my 24 hour comic marathon I was losing my mind and I hardly had any idea of where my story is going already. It was more like I was trying to get to the end of the story as fast as possible. Yes in case you don't know yet, I drew this entire kidnapped series within 24 hours time.

CONTINUED IN PART 8

Have a great week ahead!

Christmas is coming but for those pessimist, end of the world is coming. Yippee for you.

SPONSORED: RESORT WORLD GENTING AWANA BLOGGER CONFERENCE

This is a sponsored post.

Hello Thursday!

This one is a little behind, but about a month ago I was invited by the Stickman’s gang to give a talk at a resort somewhere on thefamous highlands we have here in Malaysia.

It was for a bloggers conference at the Awana Resort, which is under the Resorts World Group. I didn’t know what to expect or what to talk about but nevertheless I took up the offer and the following week I was driving up the mountain to give a talk to a group of bloggers who am I not sure if they would be interested in listening to my lame stories on my comic blogging adventures.

As much as I may be funny in my comics, trust me I make a very bad stand up comedian. At least I think so.

But in terms of my experience on giving the talk, it was a prime example of expectation versus reality.

Priorities. I need them fixed.
So, even though I expected to be giving my talk in a nice hotel ballroom but giving it in the middle of a forested area proved to be quite an experience as well. Everyone was sitting on the longhouse floor and decorations of Halloween were hanging around the room. It felt warm and casual as compared to giving a talk on a proper stage.  It felt like I was a tiny television in a room with one big happy family watching me and the TV program they were watching was an awful guy in purple.

I do hope the participants did learn something from my talk but it was apparent that they were enjoying my comic strips more as everyone was laughing. It was beautiful. I had no idea my comics held such power. I may be awful at trying to be funny behind the microphone but thankfully my comics did a better job than me.

Thank you to Nuffnang and Resorts World Genting for the opportunity.

Loved the grilled fish.

Have a great week ahead!

2 Girls 1 Cup

Hello Monday is here once again to throw cold water on you! If you are studying or on a holiday on you now, that cold water does not apply to you and I am jealous.

Many years back, there was this viral video on the Internet called "2 Girls 1 Cup". If you never heard of it, firstly, I am surprised but at the same time I would advice you that now is NOT a good time to Google it. It is NEVER a good time to Google it. But who am I to say that as till today, I have never watched that video. At all. Everyone else who have heard of this video might have watched it at some point after its wretched birth but not me. Not even once.

But Jon is going to try and change that.

He is one persistent pain in the ass.
He dogged me around for almost an entire day until he got bored and bothered Mocha instead. Hopefully not with the video. I'm not sure if that poor pup can take that psychological trauma.

Still, I'm pretty sure Jon is going to ask me that question again.

"Bro, you watched '2 Girls 1 Cup' before?"
"No. Go away."

Have a great week ahead!

P.S. I won the second placing at the recent RICOH comic contest! The win was tough and unexpected and thank goodness it wasn't a consolation prize. Thanks to everyone who voted for me! Could not have done it without your undying support. It is things like this that becomes my fuel to keep on drawing for you guys. Thank you all so much! Love all of you! May awesome things always happen to you guys!

SPONSORED: MRuncit.com – A REWARDING MOBILE SHOPPING LIFESTYLE

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Yes. I am a day early. And that is a really good thing.

Take a walk down any shopping mall and notice all those mobile phone accessory shops? Ever felt like you got your money’s worth each time you buy something from there? Sure maybe you do but you buy, you go home and then that’s it. Nothing after that. But what if you could get something more after buying something from those shops?

So recently I found out about this neat online mobile virtual store where you can buy all sorts of phone related products ranging from mobile phone accessories to online games reload and airtime reload. MRuncit is what it is called.

All purchases are done from the palm of your hand and they will ship any physical products to you for free! FOR FREE! Just get the FREE Shipping + 20% discount code HERE. Imagine the time and money to be saved! This is gold for any cheapskates like me! At the same time, you get rewarded with MReward points with each purchase which you can accumulate and then redeem for free gifts later! You save time and money and get rewarded all at the same time!

Jamus decided to give it a try a few weeks back.

Points gathering can be really addictive for some.
Now the whole house is crowded with stuff. I had to ban Jamus from any computers lest he makes more crazy purchases from the MRuncit store.

I guess the biggest thing now on MRuncit is their WOW contest where if you were to purchase ANY reload products (e.g. airtime reload, internet access reload, online games credits and IDD reload) from their store from the 1st November to 31st December 2012, you stand a chance to win bicycles, iPod nanos and/or even a new car! WHAT?!!

So if this is your kind of thing, give it a shot HERE!

Visit the MRuncit store today! A neat new way for mobile shopping!

Meanwhile, we are still restraining Jamus from making any more purchases because he really wanted to win that car.

Have a great week ahead!

Surprise Attack

Hello Monday. It is back. Time for another comic.

Remember when you were just a young male teenager you and your friends play pranks on each other at school especially surprise attacking your unsuspecting victim? Either smacking their crotch, pulling down their pants or twisting their nipple, there are many ways of inflicting unwarranted pain, injury and embarrassment to your peers. Those stupid teenage days.

Unfortunately, the bros are already grown assed adults and still do this kinda stupid shit at each other at home.

This is why I always stay locked in my own room.
Goddammit, Jon is strong like an ox. Or as how Daryl would put it:

"Si Jon ni kuat macam tiga ekor lembu."

Wait. What do you mean you guys have never done this sort of thing before??

Please tell me you guys used to surprise attack your friends.

If not I may have just successfully made the bros look more gay now.

I'd better lock my door after this.

Have a great week ahead!

Bro Long Story: Kidnapped, Part 5

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday. If you haven't followed me on Facebook or Twitter already, I did mention that Saturday's post will be pushed to today in order to comply with sponsor obligations. Anyway, hey Sunday!

A reason why I hate Sundays is because within 24 hours it will soon be over and the dreaded Monday will come knocking at your door unceremoniously once again. Enjoy Sunday while you can.

So, we are back with the continuation of the Kidnapped series! Daryl has been kidnapped by the ski masked neighbours while the bros are at home playing video games. What will happen next?

READ Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4

Will Daryl ever get out of this mess?
He seems to have everything under control though.

CONTINUED IN PART 6

If you thought the third page of this part seems very familiar, you are right! This 6 framed picture had once been introduced HERE and I have managed to use some creativity to integrate it into this 24 paged comic! I must be a genious!

Actually I am a lazy ass because at this point in my 24 hour comic marathon, I was already fighting against myself from sleeping and was very extremely tired, light headed and borderline insanely irritable. I had no choice but to use one of my past works to accelerate the process by one page as I was already running out of time. And sanity.

Strange that even though I was greatly fatigued, I still managed to cook up this idea with whatever brain power I had left.

Have a great Sunday ahead!

Monday is coming.

Soon.
