Why I Find It Hard to Love

Hey everyone!

Wow once again I left this blog on the shelf collecting dust. Anyway guess what day it is today?

It's a freaking Tuesday. And it's Valentine's Day.

Now today's post might make me sound bitter but I am bitter person by nature so I guess that's okay.

Savage bro.

Riddle! What's faster than the speed of light? The speed of someone forgetting you once they get what they want.

She promptly forgot about me so fast and that was the end of it. I was dropped like old gossip news from last week. Funnily enough, after a few months, she would come running back to me once the other guy was done with her.

How would I know that? Believe it or not she did it to me four times. And I let it happen. You can say I am a colossal dumbass.

Every time she would tell me she is not ready but will land herself in a relationship within record time. I came to a conclusion. Her secret was this:

She was always ready.
All girls are gamers.

Some play Dota. Some play with feelings.

But don't worry guys, I'm over it that's why I decided to laugh it off with this comic. I had an extremely great time drawing this one out.

Damn, this has to be the most bitter post ever.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Hope your love life is less savage than mine.

Have a great week ahead!

Asking Parents For Permission

Hey everyone! Happy Monday!

So I just got back from a Meet and Greet and Book Signing event in Penang yesterday and if you didn't hear about it maybe it's time for you to follow me on my Facebook page. Just slotting this in here in an attempt to gain more likes so I hope you don't mind.

Anyway, today I have another comic about my parents because I am not sure why I cannot stop talking about them.

As a kid, if I wanted to do anything I would have to ask my parents for permission. Needless to say, my life as a kid, things were pretty ambiguous.

Here is why.

Who do I really have to ask really...
I would then go to my mum and ask who will tell me to go back to my dad and ask and this endless self defeating cycle happens until one of my parents get mad at me and I get grounded.

This is just an infinite loop which is neither yes or no where parents every time will successfully absolve themselves from their decision making responsibilities.

This is why eventually, I never ask them for permission when I want to do things. This could explain why I spend a lot of time at home. #groundedforlife

Have a great week ahead!

How My Mum Rush Me

Hey everyone! Happy Mondays!

Comic? Yes sure why not.

Recently I just have a slew of comics about my mother and this is yet another one. Back when I was in school, my mum has a technique of getting me ready as quickly as possible.

So I sat in the living room for another hour before the bus arrives.
Admittedly, I hated it when she does this.

In the beginning, I just berated my mum for not being able to tell the time but then I realised that she was just being manipulative to get me to wake up.

It worked the first few times she did it but eventually I wisened up. Instead of waking up and rushing, I continued sleeping but then that was how I begin to be late for school.

I can never win the system.

Thank goodness I don't have to wake up so early for school anymore.

Have a great week ahead!

Are Kids Soft These Days?

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the late post as I got held up with doing unnecessary things since Monday. Hence the post comes up today!

I know I am slightly late to the party but a couple of weeks ago, I came across this one news where a parent making a beeline to the social media after finding out his kid who came late to school got punished by sitting under the sun on the tar road while the rest get to sit on the cement floor during morning school assembly.

Firstly, it's morning assembly. Sitting on the tar road and cement floor is equally shit because no kid likes morning assemblies especially when the 10 o'clock sun starts scorching down your neck and you start sweating even before the first class on Monday begins.

Secondly, your kid is going to grow up being a soft strawberry who can't even take the smallest punishment. Back then, kids had it worse and we sucked it up.

Therefore I summarize my point into this one comic.

Mohon viral.

And if was lucky, sometimes my dad proceeds to cane me AFTER telling him I got caned in school. He was punishing me for getting caned. And then another caning for not doing my homework.

Now I am not condoning child violence but parents shouldn't freak out so much when their kids get punished in school for misbehaving.

Kids shouldn't have to grow up being soft.

I may be a shit parent one day.

Have a great week ahead!

Whenever My Mum Calls Me In The House

Hey everyone!

Was supposed to post something yesterday but then I fell sick over the weekend so you can go ahead and ask me how my weekend was it sucks so bad I wanted to cough myself to oblivion.

Anyway, I am still not finished with the topic of my mum. I know I've just been harping on her weird quirks but then based on the feedback I got, I began to realise that a lot of mums do it too.

Now here is one more and I would love to know if your mum does this to you too.

This happens way too often for my liking.
This was not a once or twice occurence. It happened way too many times and she always have reasons behind them but her to go reason was "she forgot". I don't like calling my mum old but why you keep forgetting?? Does this explain why you forgot about me when- never mind.

One time, she said that "I just want to make sure you are in the house."

What in the even what? I called back! Doesn't that mean that I am already IN the house? Apparently she needed my physical being to be in front of her to confirm my presence.

Mum. Why you so weird.

Have a great week ahead everyone.

Whenever My Mum Calls Me Down For Dinner

Hey everyone!

So I was supposed to continue from where I left off previously with this comic but I got distracted with socio-political issues.

Back to the topic now.

Apparently in my previous comic, people are all telling me that my mum leaves the door open because she wants me to stop whatever I am doing and move my ass but this comic will explain it further.

Even after I move my damn ass.

It is never ready.
So even though she calls me, leaves my door open for the demons to enter, and I move my ass to dinner, there is no dinner waiting.

Furthermore. she actually expects that I sit in the living room and wait like I am at a restaurant or something.

My mum's logic is an enigma.

There is another thing that she does which I will cover in the next post. Provided I don't get distracted again.

Have a great week ahead!

Man Gets Criticised For Doing Charity In Shorts

Hey everyone!

A random Sunday post because I just read some news that made me go what the gugujiao.

So couple of days ago news popped up of a local hero, known as Mr. Kuan or Uncle Potato, goes around visiting and helping those in need which immediately makes me look like the devil by comparison. His deeds were very inspiring to me and gave me a nice warm fuzzy feeling in the cold bitterness of my heart but unfortunately, some individuals were quick to point out that he shouldn't be doing charity in his shorts when he visits the homes of those who were Muslim as it is disrespectful.

You can read the news HERE.

I'll let that sink in for awhile.

Done? Now don't you just feel pure seething rage that some people have that capacity to go full throttle at their own self righteousness until they forgot that they are clouded in their own dickheadery? Yes. Dickheadery. I made that word up based on how ridiculous these people can be. It's amazing!

And here's the thing. Those people who commented like that? I'm pretty sure this comic sums up their actual behaviour in real life because I am judgmental like that.

Exactly like this.

At least he had pants on you assholes.

I'm pretty sure that these people are the ones that actually do next to nothing to help the needy.

Before I end this post, I just want to give Mr. Kuan a huge shoutout for being such a hero. May you continue to inspire many to be everyday heroes! You the man. Short pants or not.

Do good. Or just STFU.

Have a great Sunday ahead!

The Hot Dog Situation

Hey everyone! How's it going?

So if you are Malaysian, there is this recent news making headlines all across the nation (no, not the one about Singapore I will address that one later) and it made a huge fuss all over the internet! It was met with much ridicule and criticism.

And I had much trouble understanding the situation.

Ok I lied.

To be honest, I couldn't care less about this news but being the grand opportunist that I am, I decided to draw a cartoon about it.

Poor pretzel dog just wanted to join the cool gang.

Since the hub bub about the entire hot-dog situation, the authorities then came up with another attention catching headliner, which I must admit, gave me another opportunity to make another satire about it.

He can now literally drop it like it's hot.
Which I must admit I actually like that name change. I prefer to say sausage. It is the way it rolls off the tongue.

I know I am just an awful person to take light in this matter but I just couldn't help myself. A small number of people got upset with me when I made that comic.

But then I realised that my intention wasn't to offend anyone. I was just technically giving my form of commentary and at the same time capitalising on trending news so I could get more likes on my Facebook page.

People shouldn't get too easily offended. It just creates a whole lot of negative space. Just like how my friend, Ross, pointed out recently...

Frankfurter speaking, this situation has gone from brat to wurst.
Okay I better stop now.

That's the last one I promise.

Have a great weekend ahead!

Why Does My Mum Do This

Hey everyone!

Happy Mondays!

So over the weekend my mum came by to visit me and after spending some time with her I suddenly remembered that my mum has many weird quirks as well. Not as weird as the Bros but weird none the less. So today I feel like talking about it.

Yes today I am making fun of my mum.

It's okay she doesn't read my blog.

Here is one of the things that she does which I can never ever stand and at the very same time never ever understand.

And then when I go downstairs, dinner is actually not ready at all.
Turns out that almost every single Asian mum out there tends to do this as well. They come in for 5 seconds, leave and they make sure that they leave the door open EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

No matter how times I remind her to close the door when she comes in, she will always never follow through. It is like trying teach a puppy to play ping pong.

I wonder if she does this when she enters her boss's office.

Oh wait she is the boss.

No wonder.

Does your mum do this too? If she does, any theories on why? Do let me know because I'm genuinely curious of this seemingly universal phenomenon in almost every Asian household.

Shout out to all the doors that remain open thanks to mothers out there.

Have a great week ahead!

The New Apple Phone 7

Hey everyone! Happy Tuesdays!

So the new Apple Phone 7 got released recently and despite it getting some mixed reviews, you know that people are still going out to buy that shit because capitalism!

You buy one, you impress your friends. Easy.

What's more impressive if this happens and you maintain your composure.

It's just 3 seconds old.
I remember seeing a video once where a dude just came out of the store and is one of the very first to own the new phone (this was when Apple Phone 6 was released I think) and was being interviewed live and he opens his brand new box of his phone. Due to the design of the packaging, the phone found its way screen first straight into the ground within seconds thanks to gravity. I wondered how the guy must have felt to have the entire world witness his grief and you gotta give him props for just maintaining his cool.

Very much like Daryl, I am pretty sure he will be crying on the inside for hours.

Dropping your new phone may be a small matter but we all know how it makes us feel on the inside.

Be strong.

It's just a phone.

Cry forever.

Have a great week ahead.

Please Help My Sad Desperate Friend

Hey everyone!

Yikes I missed two weeks of content. And there I was two weeks ago promising to make a comeback and be consistent on my blog once again.

*flashback*

Oh ya I never said I wanted to be consistent back again. I actually went back to my previous two posts to check on what I said.

I am the most inconsistent person I ever know.

Speaking of consistency, there is this one guy who has been pretty consistent with me regarding one thing.

If you have been following my content regularly on my Facebook page, you would know that I did mention that some of my jokes are inspired by this one stand up guy named Dr. Jason who could really use your help right now.
Seriously Jason leave me alone...
I could also really use some help...

All jokes aside, I am a huge fan of Jason's work and he is definitely one of my most favourite local stand up comedian. If you do not know who he is, here's a video of him in action.

So right now he is in the running for Laugh Factory's Funniest Man in the World competition and he needs your votes so he can be in the finals to perform in Helsinki, Finland and hopefully win us the gold medal for what you can call the Olympics of stand up comedy.

How can you help? Just go to this link www.votedrjason.com and watch the video and then click like and share the video onto your FB profiles. By doing so you can reduce this man's desperation to qualify for the finals!

DO IT NOW! VOTING ENDS ON OCTOBER 3RD!

Please.... I just want him to leave me alone...

How To Get Girls

Hey everyone!

I'm back again! Based on my previous post, I am glad that some of you actually come back to visit the page and I am very thankful for that. You guys are awesome!

So I came across this advice on the internet and I thought I'd put my spin on it as I believe that it is very true and the title for this post have great potential to be misleading.

Put up some lures first for better chances?
On another note, I think I just equated women with cartoon pocket monsters. Go me.

Feminists please don't kill me I'm just a simple stupid man.

Have a great weekend ahead!

How Much Can I Eat With RM5?

Hey everyone! Happy Mondays!

Look at this sad blog which I have not updated in months. I think the last post was like in January. A good seven months of nothing but silence and disappointment.

Hence I've decided to post something out of the randomness of my heart and if you are reading this then, wow, you still check back here? You are just the most awesome person to me right now.

I want to explain why I don't post here on this blog anymore (I am now more focused on uploading content on my Facebook page) but I shall explain that in another post. (hopefully we don't have to wait another 7 months for it)

Random transition into a totally unrelated topic!

Recently I got a little bit broke when I opened my wallet and noticed I only had RM5 left nestled comfortably in a whole bunch of random receipts. That was the saddest time of my week when I realised I had to actually figure out what can I eat with only RM5. Then I had a flashback of when I was back in primary school and realised how much I could eat for RM5 at the school canteen.

I was a fat little kid back then.
Kinda explains why I lost so much weight nowadays.

Anyways thanks for tuning in back here if you are reading this right now. I don't expect much visitors on this site nowadays. I feel like an old man living in a dusty old house waiting for people to come say hi.

In case I haven't mentioned it already, I actually actively post content weekly now on my Facebook page so do follow me there for new content!

I admit it was nice writing again on this blog. At least I get to express myself a little bit more here.

Take care. I'll see you guys again soon!

Every Time I Game

Hey everyone! First off let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy new year and this will be my first post for 2016!

I know usually I would post about how my 2015 was but I must admit that it was rather uneventful and I didn’t particularly enjoy getting sentimental looking back at the things I've done over the year.

Also because in the year 2015 is the year I got a bit more into gaming!

This cycle continues almost every night.
Despite the hours I’ve poured into my new hobby, I never got good in any games. Perhaps the reality that I will never be a professional gamer is starting to hit me in the face.

Yes. I spend more hours playing computer games last year because 2015 was the year that gaming became quite the serious thing in Malaysia and I got a bit carried away by it!

On the 11 December 2015, Malaysia had its biggest online gaming competition ever, the Malaysian Cybergames 2015 at Stadium Negara.

Gaming is real now.
I’ve always been into gaming and this is the first time I see that we are finally getting more serious into developing our gaming talents and craft them into unstoppable virtual warriors bred only for competitions. Winners of DOTA2 competition held there will become the national pro gaming team called Taring who will be sent to compete in international competitions. While that sounds really awesome but I also almost shat bricks when I found out that the Malaysian Cybergames competition had RM300,000 in the winners’ prize pool! Seriously?!  Who says gaming cannot make money?

Cyber cafe on steroids.
This is the sort of thing that was unimaginable in just five years ago and look how far we have come into the gaming industry. It’s good to see that the government and media outlets now see how big and important gaming can be. I am pretty excited to see what is in store for our Malaysian gaming scene and what more to be seen in the coming years.

In the meantime, I should brush up further on my gaming.

One more round!

Oh. Its night time already.

Have a great week ahead!

P.S. In case you are wondering, do not worry as I have not let gaming get in the way of my comics. I'm still actively drawing comics and hopefully my third book will be released soon! The book is already done and is on its way into print! Fingers crossed!

I Do It For The Exposure!

Hey everyone! How's things?

Yeah I bet a lot of people, especially my friends who are in the creative line, will be puzzled with the title I just put up.

"Has Ernest lost his mind? Someone call the mental hospital!"

Bet it will also get your attention but hey, I believe in the power of clickbait because at times I can be an insufferable attention seeker.

Even at this point of my creative career, I still get the occasional "we-will-give-you-exposure-instead-of-paying-you-real-money" from potential clients. I do not know why that is but rather than getting annoyed by such requests, I find that playing along with it yields much more satisfactory results.

Sarcasm is my favourite friend.
I still do not understand why companies who have the potential to pay you for your hard work would prefer to pay you with a "currency" which does not have any monetary or tangible value which you could trade for your meals and daily essentials. If I put in some hard work, I expect to get paid. End of story.

Of course, exposure is also good to an extent and you should always weigh it out to see if the effort you are going to put in is justifiable with said 'exposure'. However, to put it simply, why not give me BOTH money AND exposure? That would make me really really happy.

As a creative person, always know your worth and know that your time also has value as much as theirs. Do not let these corporations influence you where it obviously seems more like they are taking advantage of your skills and time.

The last time where someone did something just for exposure was called slavery and the only thing you get exposed to was the harsh sunlight while you lay yet another brick for the pyramids.

Let's all be on the same page and live in modern times shall we?
I would say F-off but that would have been too unprofessional.
The only exposure I would give is my buttcheeks.

Have a great rest of the week ahead!

Side Effects Of Haze

Hey everyone! I'm back!

So is the haze.

The haze is a highly unnecessary annual ritual that we have to go through but usually it comes and go in about two weeks. But this year, the haze has been the LONGEST haze season that has ever been! Remember my previous post about the haze? I posted that comic about a freaking month ago! Goddamit so much forest left to burn issit?!

Furthermore, before that comic was up the haze has already been around for at least two weeks. This haze has been lingering in our air for a month plus now and there are news that it might even go on until next year. Holy shit this haze doesn't want to seem to go away and the haze is a health hazard that we have to put up with year after year.

Here is a comic illustrating that:

Blame every symptom on the haze!
No. Haze will not cause blood in your stool.

If you have blood in your stool, that's just you. Not the haze.

Go see a doctor.

Anyhow, haze please go away forever. There are only so many haze related comics that I can do.

Super thanks to Jared the Youtuber from GrimFilm for sparking this comic idea. He mentioned about having blackened nose shit. I expanded it with the blood in the shit. We are good at making shit jokes.

Have a great week ahead and hopefully a non-hazy one.

Four Seasons In Malaysia

Hey everyone! How's it going?

*cricket sounds*

Damn. I know it's been like 5000 years since I posted anything here. If you are still hanging around, I just want you to know that my love for you has no bounds.

I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything. Life just got a whole lot busier for me so there's that but an announcement is coming up soon and I hope there are still people reading this blog to see said announcement.

Anyway, there is this comic I've been wanting to draw for the longest time and I do not know what's holding me back but here it is. As a kid, I've always wanted to travel overseas to experience the four seasons, but then as I grew up, I noticed that the four seasons have always been here in Malaysia.

Still not the same though.
I still want to go overseas to experience the real four seasons. The one we have back here is kinda awful.

Also because Malaysians just love complaining.
To be honest, I have not seen real snow in my whole life.

Ringgit why you so weak. #poor #stuckinMalaysia

Have a great week ahead!

This Ramadan, I Have A Date

Hey everyone! What's up?

A new post is that's what's up! I know I have been missing in action for the past couple of month and I've only managed to come up with a trickle of new content only and I bet that most of you guys must have given up on checking back on this site and there is a high chance that no one is going to read this at all.

If you are reading this right now, I thank you so so much. #terharu #manlytear

Yes, you read the title right! This Ramadan, I finally have a date! Finally, after all these while, I can tell people loud and proud that I finally have a date!

Before we move onto the comic, I would like to wish all my Muslim friends happy fasting and have an awesome Ramadan!

Now who is my date? Find out in the comic below!

It's not just any date. It's Yusuf Taiyoob.
I guess you will only get this joke if you are Malaysian. Every year, there is this annoyingly endearing radio ad that plays whenever Ramadan is upon us, promoting this Yusuf Taiyoob brand of dates. I've explored this topic twice before HERE and HERE.

I'm sorry if this is an awful joke. I know it is.

Don't worry all the good jokes are in my third book which is finally done and hopefully will be released in either July or August.

This comic is in no way sponsored by Yusuf Taiyoob but seeing the amount of comics I have done for them, maybe they should. Just whispering saying.

Happy Ramadan everyone and have an awesome weekend ahead!

Happy GST Day!

Hey everyone! How's it going?

Not very good I presume. If you are Malaysian.

Well, if you are Malaysian, you would know that today is the day. The first day the nation gets introduced to a new thing called GST (Good and Services Tax). The first day of GST. Wow. Our neighbouring countries are all going like: "Aww, they finally have GST. So cute."

For the first time, this brand new GST will now be applied to lots of things.Like all new things, it's new, it's strange and not everyone gets it. Some things might get more expensive, some things might now but one thing is for sure is that we are all complaining about it now but naturally after awhile we will all slowly accept it because you'd be surprised how high everyone's tolerance for bullshit is when you feed it to them slowly.

But all is not that bad, I heard that there's a little side to this GST thing being introduced today.

Here's how I'd expect my first day of GST to be like.

I swear some smartass eatery place is gonna use this sick joke on someone.
Oh, it's April Fools Day today as well? I didn't notice.

Yep. It is actually pretty awesome that GST gets implemented on April Fools day.

No, not really.

GST is no joke.

How do you think your first day of GST will be like?

#GetScrewedToday

Happy GST Day everyone!
